PERSEKUTUAN KEBAJIKAN ISLAM TELOK KURAU SINGAPURA or formerly known as PERSEKUTUAN KHAIRAT KEMATIAN ORANG-ORANG ISLAM TELOK KURAU SINGAPURA was established since 1941. Initially, the non-profit Organisation, provided financial aids to Muslim families living in the vicinity of Telok Kurau to pay for their funeral expenses should death happened to their family members.
Our Story
Unfortunately, when the 2nd World War occurred, after Singapore was invaded and was administered by the Imperial Japanese Army, the funeral services were stopped.
Activities by the non-profit Organizations were discouraged by the new Japanese administration as they fear that it will instigate and garner support from the people to go against the Japanese administration.
After the 2nd World War was over in 1945 and after the Imperial Japanese Army surrendered Singapore to the British Colonial rule, this non-profit Organization resumed their funeral services.
This time memberships were opened to all Muslims residing in Singapore.
Registered Members to Date
To date, the non-profit Organization managed to garner more than 18,000 registered members. This non-profit Organization was managed by a team of 17 Management Committee members which were elected once in every two years during the Annual General Meeting.
